Meet Our 2010 Fellow: Brian Reed
Brian Reed When Brian Reed applied to the Above the Fray fellowship, he had zero foreign reporting experience — but he was perfectly poised for the challenge. He showed a natural gift for story-telling, a This American Life stint under his belt that proved he wasn't afraid to take an unorthodox approach, and a pitch that hooked us immediately: a biblical-size tale of climate change from a place we had never heard of. Read more about Brian on TakePart.com.

His two-part series aired on Morning Edition Wednesday-Thursday, February 16-17, 2010. Part I | Part II | Read his NPR dispatches.

2012 Update: Brian now works as a full-time producer for This American Life.

Edge of the World
Brian captured this other-worldly photo in Kiribati, a string of tiny coral atolls and one island in the far Pacific — a country that could very well disappear within the next 50 years. Brian landed in Tarawa, Kiribati, in November to tell the story of a sinking nation confronting climate change face to face.
